Privacy Policy
Rate24 is built to be private by default. It has no account, no tracking, and no advertising.
Last updated: 18 June 2026This Privacy Policy explains how the Rate24 mobile application ("Rate24", "the app", "we", "us") handles information. It applies to the app distributed through the Apple App Store. The data controller is Ferhat Yigen. If you have any questions, contact us at fyigen@gmail.com.
1. Information we do not collect
We have designed Rate24 so that it does not require, request, or collect personal information. Specifically, we do not:
- require you to create an account or sign in;
- collect your name, email address, phone number, or location;
- use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs;
- build a profile of you or sell or share data with data brokers.
Under Apple's privacy definitions, Rate24 is configured as "Data Not Collected."
2. Data stored on your device
To work, the app saves your settings and content locally on your device (and, where you have enabled it, in the app's private storage shared with its home-screen widget). This includes things like your selected currencies and favorites, your chosen base currency, appearance and refresh preferences, any rate alerts you create, and a cache of the latest exchange rates so the app works offline.
This information never leaves your device through us. It is removed when you delete the app.
3. Camera (price scanning)
Rate24 includes an optional feature that lets you point your camera at a price to convert it. Camera frames are processed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device text recognition (the Vision framework). Images are not saved, uploaded, or sent to us or any third party. The camera is only used while the scan screen is open, and only after you grant permission. You can decline or revoke camera access at any time in iOS Settings; the app then falls back to manual entry.
4. Notifications
If you enable rate alerts, the app may show local notifications when a rate reaches a level you set. These are scheduled and delivered on your device. We do not operate a push-notification server and do not receive any information when a notification is shown.
5. Exchange-rate data sources (third parties)
To show live rates, the app fetches publicly available exchange-rate data from:
- European Central Bank reference rates, via the Frankfurter API — frankfurter.app;
- CoinGecko for cryptocurrency prices — coingecko.com.
These requests contain only the information needed to retrieve rates (for example, currency codes). They do not include your identity or any account information. As with any internet request, the receiving service necessarily sees your device's IP address and standard network metadata in order to respond. That processing is governed by those providers' own privacy policies, linked above. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party services.
6. Children's privacy
Rate24 is suitable for general audiences and is not directed at children. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects no personal data from children.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) — for example, to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because Rate24 does not collect or hold any personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, export, or delete on your behalf. You remain in full control of the on-device data described above and can erase all of it by deleting the app.
8. Data retention & security
We do not retain personal data because we do not collect it. On-device data persists only on your device until you remove it or uninstall the app, and is protected by iOS's standard app sandboxing and device security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes will be highlighted within the app or on this page.
